US Seizes $560K in Crypto Donations Linked to Hamas
The US Department of Justice has dismantled a network used by Hamas to raise funds and recruit members, seizing over $560,000 in cryptocurrency donations.
The network, which was operating on behalf of Hamas's military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades, relied on cryptocurrencies and online platforms to solicit funds from donors around the world.
According to court documents, a chat group claiming to have links to Hamas directed its followers to a fundraising website and provided donors with rotating addresses for cryptocurrency donations.
The US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, launched a message to Hamas, stating 'We will stop your fundraising for terrorism. Your networks are not safe, your cryptocurrencies are vulnerable, and we will not stop until your capacity to wage wars is defeated.'
