US Senate Fails Crypto Clarity Act Vote, Regulators Struggle with Uncertainty
The US Senate failed to pass the Crypto Clarity Act on Tuesday, falling short of the required 60 votes. The bill aimed to establish a clearer regulatory framework for the US crypto market.
Negotiations over more than 600 pages of proposed amendments broke down due to ethics provisions and concerns about senior government officials' ties to cryptocurrencies.
Senator Cynthia Lummis made a final appeal before the vote, urging lawmakers to complete negotiations. 'Do not let this day be the day we handed our future to someone else because we were too afraid to finish what we started,' she said.
