US Senate Set to Vote on Crucial CLARITY Act Amid Ongoing Regulatory Progress
A crucial vote is approaching on September 15 in the US Senate regarding the CLARITY Act, which aims to establish a comprehensive federal framework for digital assets.
Grayscale, a leading asset manager, has stated that the bill's passage is not necessary for further regulatory progress involving stablecoins, token sales, and crypto derivatives.
The firm believes that other areas of digital-asset policy are advancing, including stablecoin rules, tokenization proposals, and derivatives access through separate channels, such as the GENIUS Act and SEC proposed rules for token sales and securities activity on blockchain rails.
The CLARITY Act seeks to formally divide regulatory responsibilities between the SEC and CFTC, but its passage is not the only path for US regulatory progress. The Senate vote will test whether the chamber can move forward with formal consideration of the bill, which would allow debate and amendments to take place.
