Ben Delo's £36 Million Crypto Windfall Fuels Farage's Reform UK Ambitions

Share

Crypto investor Ben Delo has donated a record £36 million to Britain's populist Reform UK party, led by Nigel Farage. This significant contribution comes after Delo was pardoned by U.S. President Donald Trump in March for Bank Secrecy Act violations linked to BitMEX, the crypto trading platform he co-founded.

The donation surpasses Delo's previous £4 million contribution and gives Reform UK a substantial financial boost ahead of the next UK general election. Since April 2024, Reform UK has received over £20 million from crypto investors, with two individuals accounting for nearly 65% of all registered donations.

The surge in foreign-linked crypto donations has raised legal and parliamentary scrutiny, with investigations into possible breaches of UK political finance laws. Delo's donation is the latest example of the significant influence of cryptocurrency on UK politics.
