US Senator Calls for Probe into Crypto Ties of Presidential Sons
Senator John Curtis, a Utah Republican, has called for an investigation into the sons of US Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden. In a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee leaders, Curtis cited concerns about private financial benefits and potential conflicts of interest tied to the crypto industry.
Curtis specifically pointed out Donald Trump Jr.'s involvement in family-backed cryptocurrency ventures and advisory roles with prediction market platforms under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's regulatory purview. The Utah senator also mentioned Hunter Biden's substantial business dealings with foreign entities, as well as instances where his relationship to the presidency was invoked for value.
The call for an investigation comes a week after Senate Republicans failed to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aimed to establish market structure rules for the crypto industry. Some Democrats opposed the bill, citing concerns about Trump's use of crypto to generate profits from his presidency. The president disclosed that he earned $1.4 billion from ventures tied to digital assets in 2025.
