US Senator Seeks Investigation into Trump, Biden Sons' Crypto Ties
Republican Senator John Curtis of Utah has called for an investigation into whether Donald Trump's son and President Joe Biden's son used their family ties to secure private gain. The probe would focus on their involvement in cryptocurrency and related financial activities.
Curtis' letter, addressed to Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley and ranking member Dick Durbin, requests subpoenas for Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden. He argues that the committee should examine whether presidential family relationships were used for 'private financial benefit, preferential treatment, or access by domestic and foreign interest.'
The senator specifically pointed to Donald Trump Jr.'s crypto-linked roles and advisory activities, which fall under the regulatory scope of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. He also highlighted Hunter Biden's substantial business with foreign entities and his alleged use of presidential ties for advantage.
Curtis' request comes amid ongoing uncertainty around US crypto market-structure legislation. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act failed to advance, and lawmakers continue to debate how to regulate crypto markets while addressing concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
