US Slams A7 Network with Sanctions Over $17 Billion in Tainted Transactions
The US Treasury Department has taken action against A7 Network, a Russia-linked shadow banking network, after tracing over $17 billion in transactions linked to alleged sanctions evasion and crypto activity.
According to FinCEN, A7 Sub-Agents helped facilitate more than $17 billion in global transactions from January 2025 to June 2026. The Treasury Department reported that A7 employees had control over Sub-Agent bank accounts and used custom virtual private network software to hide their physical locations.
A7 Network is associated with Iranian oil and weapons transactions, as well as other transactions involving the Central Bank of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The Treasury Department has designated A7 as a major transnational criminal organization, subjecting its property and interests in property to US jurisdiction. FinCEN has proposed a rule that would restrict payments by and to A7 Sub-Agents, involving money and convertible virtual currency.
