US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Surpass $320M as Rally Pulls In Cash
US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs have turned positive for 2026, taking in around $320 million on a year-to-date basis. This marks a reversal from earlier withdrawals, with investors adding about $4.6 billion since August 19.
The surge follows the US Treasury's plan to step up buybacks of long-dated bonds, which has offset prior outflows. Bitcoin has climbed roughly 35% since August 19 and traded above $86,000, while CoinGecko shows crypto's total market value is back at $3 trillion for the first time since January.
Traders have been adding risk alongside the rebound, with perpetual futures open interest across digital assets reaching about $160 billion, the highest level observed since late October last year. According to Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone, the typical owner of US spot Bitcoin ETFs 'is now comfortably back in unrealized profit,' estimating the average acquisition cost at $82,000.
