US State Department Taps Bitcoin Advocacy Group for Digital Freedom Push

The US State Department has launched a program to advance digital freedom and expression using Bitcoin advocacy as a key partner. The Freedom Tech Excellence Program (FTEP) will bring private sector talent, including employees from the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI), to work alongside state department experts on issues like online freedom of expression.

The BPI has been at the forefront of promoting digital freedoms, having endorsed attempts to codify a strategic crypto reserve into law. As a founding partner in FTEP, the organization's employees will be able to contribute their expertise to advance diplomatic efforts globally.

Palantir Technologies and Anduril Industries are also part of the program alongside the BPI. The US State Department aims to leverage private sector talent to tackle key issues such as digital surveillance and AI governance.
