US Stocks Mixed as Bitcoin Surges Past $80,000
The US stock market experienced mixed performance on Friday, with major indices showing varied results. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 95.39 points to 51,682.64, down 1.69% for the week. In contrast, the S&P 500 rose 12.74 points to 7,650.50, down just 0.08% for the week.
The Nasdaq Composite gained 104.24 points to 26,522.54, up 0.72% for the week. This surge in the tech-heavy index was led by shares of Strategy (MSTR.US), which climbed over 16%, as well as Coinbase (COIN.US) and Robinhood (HOOD.US), both advancing over 11%. Other notable gainers included Circle (CRCL.US), SanDisk (SNDK.US), SK Hynix (SKHY.US), Micron Technology (MU.US), and NVIDIA (NVDA.US).
Meanwhile, Qualcomm (QCOM.US) dropped 5.82%, Dell (DELL.US) fell 3.30%, and SpaceX (SPCX.US) declined 1.36%. The Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index rose 0.78% with Alibaba (BABA.US) gaining 4.34%.
On the cryptocurrency front, Bitcoin broke through the $80,000 mark, trading at $81,126.99 as of press time, up over 6%. Ethereum was at $2,616.
