US Targets Iran-Linked Crypto Exchange Handling $6.3 Billion
US authorities have penalized an Iran-linked crypto exchange for handling over $6.3 billion in transactions between May 2024 and March 2026.
The Department of the Treasury's action targets Shelbit, a cryptocurrency exchange with ties to Iran.
A statement from the Treasury said that Shelbit founder Siavash Kayvanpour and several companies were blacklisted for helping to launder billions of dollars for the Iranian regime and supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
