US Treasury Includes Digital Assets in Financial Literacy Strategy
The US Treasury's Financial Literacy and Education Commission (FLEC) has included digital assets in its 2026 update to the National Strategy for Financial Literacy. The strategy identifies digital assets, prediction and sports betting market platforms as digital financial products whose features, terms, and risks consumers should understand.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent chairs FLEC, steering the 2026 financial literacy strategy. CFTC Chairman Michael Selig endorses the update, highlighting the agency's role in crypto and prediction-market oversight.
The strategy is built around four priority areas: youth financial capability, saving and investing, digital financial literacy, and scams-and-fraud education. Bessent described it as a roadmap to help Americans build the knowledge and skills needed to make informed financial decisions and achieve financial security.
