US Treasury Targets Iran's Crypto Economy Under Economic D-Day Campaign

Share

The US Treasury has expanded its sanctions authority to target Iran's digital economy, including crypto exchanges and other related businesses.

This move is part of a broader campaign called Operation Economic Outcast, aimed at choking off Tehran's access to the global financial system.

Under Executive Order 13902, OFAC can now sanction any person or entity found to operate within Iran's digital asset sector, regardless of their physical location.

This means that companies providing services like brokerage, wallet operations, and payment processing for Iranian crypto activities are at risk of being targeted by the Treasury Department.
