USD1 Stablecoin Launched on Canton Network to Boost Institutional Transactions

Share

World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has launched its USD1 stablecoin on the Canton Network, where over $9 trillion in tokenized assets are issued or processed each month. This move enables institutions to bring tokenized real-world assets onto Canton and use USD1 as a fully reserved stablecoin for the cash leg of onchain transactions.

Canton is a public, permissionless blockchain designed specifically for institutional finance, combining privacy, compliance, and scalability. Its network governance is independently facilitated by the Canton Foundation, which supports decentralized governance and collaborative application development.

According to Zak Folkman, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of World Liberty Financial, 'tokenization has moved faster than the money behind it.' He explained that institutions have put trillions in U.S. Treasurys and government debt onchain but the dollar leg of settlements still runs on outdated infrastructure, creating a gap where the cost and risk sit.
