USD1 Stablecoin Surpasses $5B, Trump Meme Coin Plunges 93% in Value
USD1, the stablecoin launched by World Liberty Financial, has surpassed $5 billion in total value, making it the fifth-largest stablecoin by market capitalization. This milestone comes just over a year after its launch, and it's a testament to the project's growing adoption and credibility in the crypto space.
The growth of USD1 is particularly notable given its association with the Trump Organization. Co-founder Donald Trump Jr. has emphasized the project's focus on infrastructure and real-world scalability, distinguishing it from meme token speculation.
However, the success of USD1 has not been without controversy. Senator Elizabeth Warren has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and national security vulnerabilities, pointing to the stablecoin's trading on PancakeSwap, a decentralized exchange with ties to North Korean theft operations.
The Official Trump meme coin, on the other hand, has seen a dramatic decline in value, dropping over 93% from its peak of approximately $75. This decline has been attributed to broader market trends, with CoinStats CEO Narek Gevorgyan noting that utility-focused projects are gaining ground over pure speculation.
