USDC Enters Africa via Sasai Partnership
Circle's stablecoin USDC is set to expand its reach into Africa through a partnership with Sasai Fintech. The two companies plan to integrate USDC into Sasai's existing payments infrastructure, aiming to reduce cross-border transfer times and costs.
The deal covers remittances, business-to-business transfers, and consumer mobile wallet services across several African markets.
According to a report from the World Bank in June 2025, transaction costs in Sub-Saharan Africa remain among the highest in the world, with countries such as Sierra Leone, Uganda, Angola, Botswana, and Zambia recording costs above 7% in 2023.
The United Nations has set a target of reducing the global average to below 3%. The partnership between Circle and Sasai aims to contribute to this goal by providing a faster and cheaper alternative to conventional transfer services.
