Tether's USDT stablecoin has become a crucial tool for emerging markets, providing access to foreign currency and facilitating international trade. The CEO of Tether, Paolo Ardoino, emphasized that the company's mission is more important than ever, as developing economies rely heavily on USDT for commerce and hedging against failing local currencies.

According to reports, Venezuela used stablecoins for oil exports in 2025, with 80% of all revenue paid in USDT. This year, P2P stablecoin-based national markets traded volumes represented 75% of the country's monthly oil exports. In Bolivia, the Minister of Economy and Public Finance, Jose Gabriel Espinoza, is evaluating the inclusion of USDT in the financial system.

Tether's market capitalization has surpassed $180 billion, driven by widespread adoption across emerging markets. The company's focus on these economies has paid off, as stablecoins like USDT provide immediate liquidity and a hedge against local currency devaluation.
