USDT Returns to Bitcoin Network After 12-Year Absence
Tether's USDT stablecoin is returning to the Bitcoin network after a 12-year hiatus. Utexo, an infrastructure project that has obtained a commercial license to issue the asset, plans to launch it by October.
The new infrastructure will enable private transfers and offer direct BTC-to-USDT swaps, lending backed by native Bitcoin, and more. Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino commented on USDT's return to Bitcoin saying, 'It's coming home.'
USDT first appeared in the Bitcoin ecosystem back in 2014 via the Omni protocol but later shifted to Ethereum and Tron as its primary networks. The stablecoin's market capitalization now stands at $184 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.
