USDT Returns to Bitcoin Network with Private Transfers and Loans
USDT is returning to the Bitcoin network after over a decade away. Utexo, a project backed by Tether, has obtained the commercial license to issue USDT on Bitcoin and will use the RGB protocol with client-side validation to keep transaction data off Bitcoin's public ledger.
The move marks a significant development for the largest stablecoin in the world, which was born on Bitcoin in 2014 before migrating to Ethereum and Tron. Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, teased the return last week, saying 'It's coming home.'
Utexo will enable private USDT transfers, direct swaps between BTC and USDT without going through an exchange, and loans using native bitcoin as collateral.
