USDT Returns to Bitcoin via Utexo After Decade-Long Absence
Tether's USDT is returning to Bitcoin through Utexo after more than a decade. The integration, set for October 2026, will enable private USDT transfers and direct BTC-USDT swaps.
Utexo plans to issue USDT on Bitcoin using a Tether-backed infrastructure that keeps most transaction data off-chain.
This move is likely to boost Bitcoin liquidity and DeFi adoption while shifting security and custody dynamics.
The system will also support native BTC-backed lending without requiring wrapped BTC, a move that could increase token utility.
