USDY Expands into Solana DeFi Venues
Ondo Finance is expanding its tokenized US dollar yield product, USDY, across various Solana DeFi venues. This move builds on Ondo's efforts to make tokenized real-world assets usable within DeFi rather than treating them as passive holdings.
USDY represents exposure to short-term US Treasury and bank-deposit assets while accruing yield over time, making it structurally different from conventional stablecoins like USDC or USDT. As USDY integrates with Solana lending, liquidity, and trading venues, holders can potentially use the asset as productive collateral or liquidity while retaining exposure to its underlying yield profile.
Solana's appeal for tokenized assets lies in its fast settlement, low transaction costs, and active DeFi ecosystem, making it easier for institutional-style assets to circulate rather than sitting in isolated wallets. Ondo has been working on bridging the gap between compliance and redemption structure of regulated assets with their usability onchain.
