Uzbekistan Unveils Major Crypto Regulations Amid Fintech Push
Uzbekistan has significantly expanded its crypto regulations in 2026, becoming one of the most regulated digital asset markets in Central Asia. The National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) serves as a single regulator, overseeing almost the entire crypto sector.
The biggest change came on January 1, 2026, when Uzbekistan officially recognized stablecoins as legal payment instruments through a joint regulatory sandbox managed by NAPP and the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU).
Under the new framework, resident companies can issue tokenized shares and bonds. The CBU established a $50 million venture fund to support this goal, aiming to expand Uzbekistan's fintech industry to around 200 companies.
