VanEck Sees $100K Bitcoin Price Target on Fiscal Anxiety and Structural Shifts
Bitcoin could be on its way to reclaiming the 'six-figure mark' by next year, according to Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at VanEck.
Mounting fiscal anxiety and structural market shifts are laying the groundwork for a significant rally, Sigel told CNBC. He noted that institutional appetite remains resilient despite recent macroeconomic turbulence, with BTC currently trading around $80,000.
The annualized price volatility of Bitcoin has decreased by about 50% compared to four years ago, indicating a maturing asset class driven by institutional stewardship rather than speculative retail trading.
Underlying this stability is the worsening global sovereign debt landscape. Governments are over-indebted, forcing fiscal authorities into precarious positions that favor hard-cap assets like Bitcoin.
Sigel highlighted that traders are paying up for puts over calls, yet US Treasury bond buybacks have triggered aggressive short-covering rallies. Policymakers' inability to curb deficit spending creates an environment where easing global monetary liquidity turbocharges Bitcoin's price.
