VanEck's head of digital assets, Matthew Sigel, expressed optimism about Bitcoin's prospects under a Democratic-led Congress following the midterm elections. Speaking on CNBC’s Power Lunch, Sigel noted that elections often lead to short-term market volatility but do not necessarily reflect long-term trends. He highlighted several factors supporting his bullish outlook, including Bitcoin's strength against the Nasdaq amid concerns over AI spending, its declining correlation with tech stocks, and fewer regulatory hurdles compared to other cryptocurrencies.

Sigel also pointed to the potential for higher government spending and debt issuance under a Democratic Congress and a Trump-led White House, which could enhance Bitcoin's appeal as an alternative monetary asset. He compared current conditions to the 2022 midterms, when Bitcoin bottomed before rallying nearly 300% over four years. Similar Fed rate conditions and major crypto crises, such as the FTX collapse in 2022 and the recent $6.3 billion Binance hack, were cited as parallels. Sigel believes Bitcoin’s four-year cycle suggests a potential October bottom, with limited long-term risks from Democratic control.

However, he warned that altcoins, stablecoins, and tokenization face greater regulatory uncertainty if future administrations reverse SEC or CFTC policies. Despite these challenges, Sigel remains 'quite bullish' on Bitcoin's long-term prospects.
