VeChain Price Surges on VIP-255 Upgrade Anticipation
The VeChain (VET) price surged by approximately 3.1% over the past ~35 hours, driven mainly by anticipation of its upcoming VIP-255 network upgrade and speculative trading around a widely watched chart pattern.
A recent market analysis notes that VeChainThor is preparing for the VIP-255 protocol upgrade, scheduled for September 16, 2026, at block height 25,902,540. This upgrade will expose recent block hashes through a standard calling convention, improving compatibility with Ethereum-style proof systems and light clients.
The upgrade also includes a per-transaction gas ceiling set at 16,777,216 gas and a cap on encoded block size at 8 MiB to prevent oversized blocks that slow propagation and increase node costs. Collectively, these changes make VeChainThor more EVM aligned and operationally robust.
The upgrade is expected to have a positive price reaction in VET, with upside targets at $0.0100 and $0.0160 if the resistance around $0.0070 breaks. The recent 3 percent move is best seen as part of a multi-day repricing as the market positions for the upgrade.
