Venom Foundation Proposes Industry-Wide Blockchain TPS Benchmark Standard

The Venom Foundation has proposed a standardized blockchain TPS benchmark model to address issues related to performance claims and transparency in the blockchain market.

The proposal aims to establish a common framework for measuring transaction-per-second (TPS) standards, which would provide a seamless accompaniment of standardized information explaining the measurement results.

According to Christopher Louis Tsu, CEO of the Venom Foundation, 'A TPS figure published without its test conditions tells you almost nothing.' He added that a six-figure throughput of a network leads to several immediate questions regarding the representation of a transaction, the number of validators involved, and other factors.

The proposed framework requires each published throughput standard to reveal primary parameters such as test duration, validator numbers, stake distribution, and hardware specifications. It also addresses finality, covering the process and time of transfer finality.
