Verona Launches verUSD Stablecoin with Over $100M in Institutional Commitments
A new stablecoin, verUSD, has launched with over $100 million in institutional commitments from ecosystem investors and partners. The project aims to serve a previously underserved market: software agents making payments using artificial intelligence.
Verona, the company behind verUSD, has designed its stablecoin specifically for machine-to-machine and AI-agent transactions. This requires different infrastructure than traditional human or corporate users, who often rely on bank accounts, conventional cards, or normal settlement rails.
The launch of verUSD marks a significant milestone in the development of payment systems for autonomous software. The stablecoin is available across multiple networks from day one, including Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, Optimism, Arbitrum, and Celo.
