Verus Ethereum Bridge Hit by Second Major Attack, Hackers Make Off with $7.54 Million

The Verus Ethereum Bridge was hit by its second major attack on July 23, this time netting hackers $7.54 million in stolen funds.

The attackers withdrew seven assets, including ETH, worth a total of 3,916 ETH from the bridge's reserves.

Experts believe that the same vulnerability used in the May attack, which resulted in losses of over $11.58 million, was exploited again.

In response to the attack, the Verus team shut down all bridges but have not yet provided a technical explanation or a plan for compensation.
