Vietnam and Austria have begun discussions on financial market supervision and regulation of crypto-assets. The talks, held in Vienna, focused on exchanging experience in managing financial markets and supervising crypto-asset activities.

The meeting between Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi and Mariana Kühnel, the newly appointed executive director of the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), also covered investor protection and anti-money laundering measures. Vietnam is developing a framework for regulating crypto-assets, with the goal of issuing licenses to providers by 2026.

The two sides also discussed supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam, which account for about 99% of businesses operating in the country. They proposed improving corporate governance, financial capacity, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation to help these businesses access credit and the capital market more easily.
