Vietnam Cracks Down on Unregulated Crypto Trading

Vietnam has introduced one of its strictest frameworks yet for regulating cryptocurrencies. However, this doesn't mean that digital assets are prohibited in the country.

The new decree, which comes into effect on September 1st, aims to shift trading from unregulated international exchanges like Binance and Bybit to domestically licensed platforms.

This move is part of Vietnam's efforts to transition its crypto market from a largely unregulated space to one with tighter oversight. The government hopes that by doing so, it can enhance financial security, protect investors, and boost tax compliance.

The decree also mandates that exchanges adhere to stricter anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations, which will require them to verify user identities and track transactions.
