Vietnam has introduced one of its strictest frameworks for regulating cryptocurrencies yet. However, this doesn't signify an outright ban on digital assets in Vietnam. Rather, it signifies that the nation is shifting the manner and location of their trade.

The decree (Decree No. 284/2026/NĐ-CP) aims to move trading from international exchanges like Binance, Bybit, OKX, or other offshore platforms to domestic exchanges licensed by Vietnam's Ministry of Finance. Once implemented on September 1st, anyone using unlicensed services could be subject to financial penalties.

This new regulation marks a significant transition for Vietnam's crypto ecosystem. It has shifted from unregulated crypto adoption to regulated oversight. The government is forcing traders to switch to domestic platforms rather than prohibiting digital assets outright.
