Visa-Backed Stablecoin OUSD Launches With Equity Distribution Model
Open Standard, backed by Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe, has launched its stablecoin OUSD. The dollar-pegged token will distribute equity to partners based on network contribution. CEO Zach Abrams said that founding partners will receive no special profit allocation and will be rewarded based on OUSD supply contributions.
OUSD is issued directly by Bridge, a Stripe subsidiary, with reserves managed by BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY. The token operates natively across multiple major blockchain networks and has initial support launching on exchanges such as Uniswap, Kraken, and Coinbase.
To secure initial liquidity, Visa, Stripe, Coinbase, and BVNK under Mastercard have taken on anchor roles, with Shopify committing to a total issuance of $1 billion. The token targets enterprise developers building internet-native financial services.
