Visa Dives into Stablecoins with $11.6 Billion Revenue Boost
Visa has outlined its investment strategy in the stablecoin ecosystem as part of its third-quarter earnings report. The global payments company announced a 14% increase in revenue to $11.6 billion, with payment volume and cross-border transactions also experiencing double-digit growth.
The company is investing across every layer of the stablecoin stack, including blockchain, issuance, wallets, infrastructure, orchestration, and applications. Visa has made progress this quarter in the issuance and application layers.
Visa has joined the Open Standard Consortium, which aims to issue the OpenUSD stablecoin for global money movement. The company's stablecoin platform allows partners to settle with Visa in stablecoins, use on-chain wallet-service infrastructure, and move funds between fiat currencies and stablecoins.
The company also plans to integrate with payment infrastructure company Pismo to support tokenized deposits for financial institutions. Additionally, Visa has identified artificial intelligence as a long-term growth driver alongside stablecoins.
