Visa Doubles Down on Stablecoins with Ecosystem Investments

Share

Visa is expanding its footprint in digital currencies by investing across the stablecoin ecosystem. The payments giant outlined plans to support blockchain infrastructure, issuance, wallets, and applications during its third-quarter earnings call.

Visa's strategic investments include partnerships with blockchain networks, development of wallet infrastructure, and integration of stablecoins into its existing payment rails. A notable development is Visa's decision to join the Open Standard Consortium, a group dedicated to supporting the issuance of the OpenUSD stablecoin.

The company also confirmed it is building a dedicated platform that will allow its partners to make payments and settlements using stablecoins. This infrastructure aims to bridge the gap between traditional finance and the digital asset economy, enabling faster and potentially cheaper cross-border transactions.
