Visa Joins MAS Initiative for Seven-Day Stablecoin Settlement
Visa has joined the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) BLOOM initiative to trial seven-day stablecoin settlement in Singapore. The company partnered with cross-border payments firm Nium, naming it as its first partner for this pilot.
The pilot uses USDC ($1.00 · Live), a dollar-denominated stablecoin backed by major currencies, and euro-denominated stablecoins. Visa announced the same seven-day settlement capability in November 2025, running on Circle's USDC, nearly nine months before BLOOM entered the picture.
Nium Chief Payments Officer Alex Johnson said that businesses have long been constrained by settlement cycles that move on the cadence of clearing schemes and banks, not on the cadence of global commerce.
