A consortium of payment giants, including Visa Inc., Stripe Inc., and Mastercard Inc., has launched a new US dollar-pegged stablecoin called Open USD (OUSD).

The token is developed by the Open Standard initiative and is now live for enterprise developers and businesses building internet-native financial services. Initial deployment is anchored by Visa, Stripe, and BVNK, with other companies committing to mint $1 billion in total token supply.

OUSD is backed by dollar reserves managed across JPMorgan Chase, Lead Bank, and Citibank, with monthly reserve attestations scheduled for public release. The token will operate natively across several major blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Tempo.
