Vitalik Buterin Flags Major Sync Update as ETH Enters Basing Phase
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has highlighted significant improvements in node syncing speeds and storage needs. According to Buterin, current updates have enabled an Ethereum node to sync in under half a day.
The update, attributed to EIP-4444 and work from client teams, includes improvements to Snap Sync that have made the process much better. Buterin noted that aggressive settings can reduce disk use below half a terabyte.
Buterin also pointed out that Glamsterdam should further improve the sync situation, citing Nimbus as an example of a new sync protocol using planned improvements.
