Ethereum's co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced that his pruned Geth node now occupies just 461 GiB of storage, a significant reduction in the space required to run an Ethereum node.

This development is largely due to the overlap between the requirements for running AI models on home computers and those needed to verify the Ethereum blockchain.

The push to run AI models has led to the creation of high-performance desktops equipped with fast NVMe drives and generous storage, which also meet the needs of an Ethereum node.
