Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, recently shared his insights during an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol in Mumbai. He highlighted India's growing developer ecosystem, noting that Ethereum developers in the country are expanding beyond technical privacy use cases to focus on social good, human rights, and diversity.
Buterin discussed the future of Ethereum, emphasizing the development of 'Lean Ethereum,' a set of upgrades aimed at enhancing performance, security, and decentralization. He praised the role of AI and formal verification in accelerating these upgrades, stating that what would have taken 20 years five years ago can now be achieved much faster.
On the topic of cyberattacks targeting crypto exchanges, Buterin advised the industry to adopt a 'bunker mode' to prevent such incidents. He noted that while smart contract hacks have decreased, attacks on user interfaces and centralized components remain a concern. He also predicted that regulators may impose stricter security measures if hacking continues to be a problem.
Buterin praised India's developer community for its curiosity and innovation, particularly in areas like prediction markets and proof of personhood protocols. He emphasized that the Ethereum Foundation's role is to support the community technically, leaving broader ecosystem development to local innovators.
