Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the Ethereum Foundation, emphasized in an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol that the adoption of Ethereum in India should be driven by the country’s own developers, businesses, and users. He stated, “If we can support people and help improve security, improve privacy, improve openness, then we help technically. But otherwise, we don’t try to be masters of the whole ecosystem. So, I think ultimately, Ethereum’s Indian adoption roadmap is up to Indians.”

Buterin’s remarks highlight Ethereum’s role as a provider of technology and infrastructure, rather than a directive force in shaping adoption. He believes that while the Ethereum Foundation can offer technical support to enhance security, privacy, and openness, the ultimate direction of adoption must be determined by Indian stakeholders.

The interview, conducted by Debangana Ghosh, underscores the importance of local innovation and community involvement in the growth of cryptocurrency in India. Buterin’s perspective aligns with the idea that decentralized technologies thrive when they are adapted to the specific needs and contexts of their users.
