Vitalik Buterin Unveils Ethereum's Long-Term Architecture for a 'Cryptographic World Computer'

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined his vision for the future of the network, which he believes will transform into a 'cryptographic world computer' by 2030.

The long-term architecture aims to combine blockchain, modern cryptography, and decentralized off-chain computing systems to create a faster, more private, and easily verifiable system.

Buterin's plan focuses on verification of results with short cryptographic proofs, rather than each network participant re-performing the same calculations, which is expected to increase network capacity and allow users to independently verify results with lower hardware requirements.

The Hegotá update, planned for next year, will be the last 'normal' fork of Ethereum built on its current technological foundation. The following period will revolve around cryptographic proof, scalability, and privacy.
