Walapay Secures $4.6 Million Seed Round for Global Payments Expansion

Global payments infrastructure provider Walapay has closed a $4.6 million seed round led by Generative Ventures, along with participation from Commerce Ventures, Polygon, and several other funds.

The company aims to bridge global commerce by providing seamless payment solutions across more than 180 countries and over 60 currencies.

Walapay reports $2.5 billion in annualized total payment volume, a figure that the company attributes to its local-rail approach, which reduces dependence on traditional correspondent banking channels.

'It's important for us to bring both sides together seamlessly, so businesses can move money globally,' said Tom Borgers, Chief Executive of Walapay.
