Wall Street Banks Boost Crypto Exposure Amid Market Volatility
Major Wall Street banks continue to expand their exposure to cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), despite market volatility in the second quarter. Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan both increased their holdings of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, with notable gains in Ethereum.
Morgan Stanley added 23% more shares to its BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) position, bringing its total to around 16.5 million shares. The bank also more than tripled its stake in the BlackRock iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA), increasing it by 202% to roughly 4.6 million shares.
JPMorgan's IBIT position rose to approximately 10.4 million shares from 8.3 million, while its ETHA stake more than quadrupled to around 1.17 million shares. Both banks also added positions in Solana and XRP investment products, indicating a growing interest in newer crypto assets.
The filings suggest that institutional adoption of crypto ETFs is increasing, with major financial institutions expanding their exposure across various cryptocurrencies.
