Wall Street Favorites: Why Bitcoin and Ethereum Dominate Crypto ETFs
The top two cryptocurrencies by market capitalization are Bitcoin and Ethereum, which have become favorites among Wall Street investors.
Bitcoin is the dominant cryptocurrency, making up almost 60% of the crypto market's total value. It has a unique property of being both a risk-on and risk-off asset, making it an attractive portfolio diversifier, according to BlackRock.
The iShares Bitcoin Trust has $70 billion in assets under management, with seven of the top 10 ETFs related to Bitcoin giving investors plenty of options for gaining exposure. Ethereum is also popular, with four Ethereum ETFs ranking among the top 10 spot crypto ETFs.
Ethereum's well-developed decentralized finance ecosystem has made it the preferred choice for Wall Street investors. Its growth in areas like asset tokenization and stablecoins sets it up well for future growth and gives institutional investors an easy way to gain exposure to blockchain finance.
