Warren Accuses Trump of Prioritizing Self-Interest Over America
Senator Elizabeth Warren accused President Donald Trump of prioritizing his personal financial interests over the needs of the American people. According to Warren, the Trump family 'made billions' from cryptocurrency ventures, including World Liberty Financial (WLFI) and the Official Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP) memecoin. Warren pointed out that World Liberty Trust Co. secured conditional approval for a national trust bank charter, giving Trump a 'new way to profit.'
Warren claimed that Trump's actions are motivated by self-interest, saying 'Trump's not working for you. He's working for himself.' This criticism stems from Trump's cryptocurrency dealings, which complicated the passage of the CLARITY Act through Congress. Warren argued that the legislation lacked adequate ethics safeguards and would 'turbocharge Trump's unprecedented corruption.'
The White House has rejected allegations of conflict of interest. However, a World Liberty Financial spokesperson stated that the banking charter will ensure 'permanent regulatory supervision' that will outlast the current Trump administration.
Trump's 2025 financial disclosure revealed that he earned over $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency ventures, including more than $520 million from World Liberty Financial token sales and over $635 million in royalties from the TRUMP memecoin.
