Warren Demands Probe into Trump-Linked Crypto Firm Over Illicit Finance Concerns
US Senator Elizabeth Warren has called for an investigation into World Liberty Financial (WLF), a crypto firm linked to former President Donald Trump and his family. In a letter to Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent and Attorney General Todd Blance, Warren expressed concerns about 'illicit finance' risks associated with the company.
The $WLFI token, launched by Trump in September 2024, has a market cap of around $1.8 billion. Filing revealed earlier this year that token sales and equity stakes netted Trump roughly $500 billion, part of a massive windfall he reaped from crypto deals in 2025.
Warren has raised concerns about the company's connections to people or entities engaged in illicit finance, citing the purchase of WLF tokens by Guren 'Bobby' Zhou, a businessman investigated for money laundering. The purchase was made through his company Aqua 1, which Warren flagged as a suspicious entity due to its unclear source of funds.
