Warren Probes US AI Chip Policy After UAE Investment in Trump-Backed Crypto Venture
Senator Elizabeth Warren has questioned the US Commerce Department's policy towards the UAE following its investment in President Donald Trump's family-backed cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial.
A $500 million investment by an Abu Dhabi entity backed by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan in January is at the center of concerns about potential influence on national security and government operations.
In a letter to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Warren asked for an explanation for the US government giving the UAE greater access to AI chips following two investments linking the country to Trump's crypto business.
