Warren Slams Clarity Act as Giveaway for Trump and Illicit Actors

Share

Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren has come out against the latest draft of the Clarity Act, calling it a 'giveaway' that would benefit President Donald Trump and allow 'criminals and cartels to move money'.

The bill aims to set in stone digital asset regulation, but Warren claims it fails to protect investors and the financial system. She said it would make it easier for illicit actors to finance their operations.

Warren specifically criticized the omission of any provisions to stop Trump from profiting from his presidency. 'This isn't regulation, this is a giveaway,' she stated.

The latest draft of the bill bans officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto, but Warren argued that it doesn't go far enough in preventing corruption.
