Washington Man Admits Stealing Thousands of Dollars' Worth of Bitcoin from Niagara Falls Company
A Washington state man has admitted to stealing thousands of dollars' worth of Bitcoin from a company in Niagara Falls.
Christopher Rankin, 40, pleaded guilty to transmitting a program to a protected computer and causing damage. The maximum penalty for this crime is one year in prison and a fine of $100,000.
Rankin had been hired to operate about 100 computers at the Niagara Falls company but secretly redirected them to steal more than $53,000 worth of Bitcoin.
