WaterPlum Hackers Drain $10.7M from 7,000 Crypto Wallets
A North Korea-linked hacking group known as WaterPlum has been linked to a massive cryptocurrency heist, targeting over 7,000 wallets and stealing around $10.7 million.
The attack, which spanned from December 2025 to July 2026, used fake recruitment tactics to infect at least 30,000 devices in more than 100 countries.
The hackers posed as AI, crypto, and NFT companies on social media, recruitment websites, and freelance platforms to contact potential targets, including web designers, engineers, and workers in the crypto, blockchain, and Web3 sectors.
